Code of Conduct & Table Expectations
The Charter of the Table
A shared oath for every game run by Adventures in Morgantown
Every great adventure is built on trust. The lights, the fog, the painted terrain, and the music set the stage — but it is the people around the table who make the story worth telling. This charter is our promise to you, and the expectations we ask of every adventurer who joins us. Read it as you would a pact sworn before the first die is cast.
The Game Master's Oath
What you can expect, every session, from your storyteller.
I. Prepared & Present. Your Game Master (GM) arrives early, sets the table in full, and comes ready with a session crafted for your party. The terrain, the minis, the sound, and the story are tended to before you ever sit down.
II. Fair & Impartial. Rulings are made consistently and in the open. No player is favored, no outcome predetermined. When the dice fall, they fall for everyone alike — and a ruling will always be explained when asked.
III. A Welcoming Table. Every adventurer is welcome regardless of background, identity, or experience. Newcomers are guided with patience; veterans are challenged with respect. Bigotry and cruelty find no seat here.
IV. The Shared Spotlight. The story belongs to the whole party. Your GM works to give every character meaningful moments, weaving each player's choices into the tale so that no one is left in the shadows.
V. Safety Before Spectacle. However immersive the night, your comfort comes first. Boundaries set in Session Zero are honored, safety tools are always available, and any line you draw is respected without question or judgment.
VI. Reliable & Communicative. Bookings are honored, schedules are kept, and you will hear from us promptly. Should the rare conflict arise, you'll be told as early as possible and made whole per your booking agreement.
VII. Discreet & Professional. What is shared at the table stays at the table. Your GM runs each game sober, focused, and fully attentive — treating your time, your privacy, and your investment with the care they deserve.
The Adventurer's Accord
What we ask of every player who pulls up a chair.
I. Respect All at the Table. Treat your fellow players and your GM with courtesy and kindness. Harassment, discrimination, and personal attacks have no place here — disagreements about the game never become disagreements about people.
II. Be Present & Engaged. Phones away, attention in. You've stepped into another world — stay in it. Side conversations and distractions pull everyone out of the moment we've all gathered to share.
III. Share the Stage. Heroes shine brightest together. Make room for quieter players, support the choices of others, and resist the urge to solve every scene alone. The best moments are the ones you set up for someone else.
IV. Honor the Hour. Arrive on time and ready to play. If you must cancel or reschedule, give as much notice as you can, per the terms of your booking — late arrivals and no-shows affect the whole party's night.
V. Treat the Craft with Care. Our minis, terrain, and props are hand-painted and built by hand — irreplaceable and easily damaged. Handle them gently, keep food and drink clear of the play surface, and let your GM move set pieces.
VI. Protect the Atmosphere. The music, lighting, and fog are part of the experience. Help preserve the mood: keep table talk in-world when the scene calls for it, and let everyone get lost in the story together.
VII. Play in Good Faith. Lean into collaboration over competition. Build the story with the group, not against it. There's room for clever villains and chaotic rogues — there's no room for disrupting everyone else's good time.
VIII. Mind Yourself, Mind the Table. Come rested and presentable out of respect for those seated beside you. Should you choose to drink where permitted, do so in moderation — never to the point of disrupting the game or endangering the materials.
Tools of Safety
Always at hand, no explanation owed.
- Session Zero — Every campaign opens with a conversation about tone, content, and boundaries before play begins.
- Lines & Veils — Subjects you'd rather avoid entirely (lines) or keep off-screen (veils) are set early and honored throughout.
- The X-Card — Tap it any time, for any reason, to gently edit a moment out of the scene. No questions, no judgment.
- The Open Door — You may step away or end your night at any point. Your comfort always outranks the story.
The Practical Pact
The plain terms that keep every table running smoothly.
| Booking & Deposit | Sessions are confirmed once your booking and deposit is made. |
| Cancellations | Please give at least 48 hours notice to cancel or reschedule. Late cancellations and no-shows may forfeit the deposit, as the date and prep are held for you. |
| Arrival & Setup | Your GM arrives ahead of time to set the full table. Please arrive at the agreed start so the party can begin together. |
| Travel | In-home and venue games within the Morgantown area are welcome; travel beyond may carry a trip fee outlined at booking. |
| Food, Drink & the Table | Snacks and drinks are encouraged — kept clear of the play surface, minis, and terrain. Spills near the set happen fast and cost dearly. |
| Younger Adventurers | Minors are welcome at family and youth-friendly tables with a guardian's consent and presence as arranged. |
| If Trouble Arises | Most issues end with a quiet word. Behavior that endangers the safety, comfort, or property of the table may end a session — refunds, if any, follow your booking terms. |
By taking a seat at our table, you join a company of adventurers bound by respect, generosity, and a shared love of the story. Hold to this charter, and the night is yours.
